Battle of Sammel(1544)

Sher Shah Suri defeated Rao Maldeo of Marwar at Sammel in 1544 at ruinous cost. The victory broke Marwar's grip on the region and Bikaner was restored to Rao Kalyan Mal.

      Fifth Rao of Bikaner, 1542–1571. Lost the state to Marwar, recovered it in 1544 with Sher Shah Suri's help, and in November 1570 accepted Akbar's suzerainty at the Nagaur darbar — Bikaner's entry into the Mughal system.
