Sarup Singh
Eleventh ruler of Bikaner, 1698–1700. Eldest son of Anup Singh; acceded as a child of about nine and died at eleven.
p>Swarup Singh succeeded on 19 June 1698, when his father Anup Singh died at Adoni in the Deccan. The genealogical tables give his birth year as 1689, which would make him about nine at his accession and eleven when he died on 15 December 1700.</p><p>A reign of that shape is a regency in everything but name, though the sources consulted do not identify who actually governed. Bikaner's administration in this period rested with the Bachhawat and Mohata families of Oswal Jain ministers, and the practical continuity of the state through these two years is likely to have been theirs.</p><p>He was succeeded by his younger brother Sujan Singh, then about ten, so the arrangement simply continued under a different boy.</p>
