    Maharaja Surat Singh of Bikaner

    Seventeenth ruler of Bikaner, 1787–1828. Took the throne through the disputed deaths of 1787, recaptured Bhatner as Hanumangarh, provoked a general thakur revolt, and concluded the 1818 treaty bringing Bikaner under British protection.

    Founder of Bikaner State and of the city of Bikaner. Son of Rao Jodha of Marwar; rode out of Jodhpur in 1465 and built a kingdom of 40,000 square miles in the Jangaldesh desert.

    Rao Lunkaran of Bikaner

    Third Rao of Bikaner, 1505–1526. Consolidated and expanded the young kingdom; celebrated for his liberality as the 'Karna of the Kaliyug'. Killed with three of his sons at the Battle of Dhosi.
