Fortified town in Marwar; site of Akbar's 1570 darbar at which Rao Kalyan Mal of Bikaner submitted to Mughal suzerainty.
Sixth ruler of Bikaner, 1571–1612, and the first styled Raja. One of Akbar's senior commanders — Subahdar of Lahore and Subedar of Burhanpur, mansabdar of 4000 zat — and the builder of Junagarh Fort.
Fifth Rao of Bikaner, 1542–1571. Lost the state to Marwar, recovered it in 1544 with Sher Shah Suri's help, and in November 1570 accepted Akbar's suzerainty at the Nagaur darbar — Bikaner's entry into the Mughal system.
